Marta Sánchez is a Spanish jazz pianist and composer based in New York City, acclaimed for her innovative voice and original compositions. Her quintet’s albums Partenika and El Rayo de Luz were named among The New York Times’ “10 Best Albums” lists for 2015 and 2019, earning praise from DownBeat, The Wall Street Journal, NPR and more. Sánchez was honored as a DownBeat Rising Star in 2025. Since 2022 she has been the pianist in the David Murray Quartet, and plays as a sideman in many other projects.
