An Evening of Collective Radiance
Honoring Pat Metheny with the Inaugural NYC Winter Jazzfest Mentorship Award
Featuring live performances by an all-star lineup of contemporary jazz luminaries
Join us for our very first NYC Winter Jazzfest Gala, a celebration of the artists, advocates, and audiences who make this music a living, growing force, and a fundraiser to sustain our work ahead.
More than a celebration, this is an opportunity to invest in the artists, programs, and communities that will shape the future of jazz for generations to come.
Proceeds support Winter Jazzfest’s mission to champion emerging artists, expand access to live music, and harness the power of jazz to inspire connection, cultural expression, and positive social change.
In the coldest season, we make our own warmth. Every winter since 2005, we have been reminded that our music is not simply entertainment, but a vital force reflecting our times, carrying legacies forward, and nurturing our community in moments of hardship and joy. Core to our mission, Winter Jazzfest champions artists at every stage of their careers, from emerging innovators to icons.
Your support makes this possible. By giving to Winter Jazzfest, you help sustain a platform for extraordinary artists, expand access to transformative musical experiences, and invest in the next generation of musicians and audiences who will carry jazz forward.
Honoring Pat Metheny
The evening’s centerpiece is the presentation of the first annual Winter Jazzfest Mentorship Award to guitarist, composer and NEA Jazz Master Pat Metheny. Across a groundbreaking career, Metheny has devoted himself in recent years to nurturing generations of younger artists opening doors to his global audience of fans, sharing hard-won life and musical wisdom, and lifting up emerging voices. It is a legacy that embodies the spirit of our festival, and there is no more fitting honoree to inaugurate this award.
Honoring Our Partners & Friends
We are also proud to recognize organizations and friends whose work impacts the healthy landscape of the music industry:
This Is A Movement - A gender equity advocacy initiative, will be honored along for its new Childcare Support program for working musicians, removing a critical barrier to participation and career longevity for artists who are parents.
All Access - A mentor-based training program for women pursuing careers in concert production and operation, building a stronger, more inclusive pipeline behind the scenes.
Gerry Eastman - Composer, conductor, musician and owner of Williamsburg Music Center has fostered a community for jazz since 1981, celebrating 45 years as the longest continuously opened black owned Jazz venue in NYC.
All tickets and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law

NYC Winter Jazzfest Mission
Described by The New York Times as “the city’s most renowned jazz festival,” Winter Jazzfest has a three-fold mission: to support new artists of all backgrounds, expand the audience for jazz, and amplify messages of social justice. Over 22 years, the festival has grown into a destination for avid jazz fans, industry professionals, international travelers, and new listeners, proof of this music’s enduring vitality. Rooted in the tradition of jazz as protest music, Winter Jazzfest highlights artists whose work carries messages of social justice, wellness, and positive change, and is committed to programming that inspires progressive social and community impact on stage and beyond.
Collective Radiance
Our 2027 festival season is foregrounded by Collective Radiance: the idea that we exist as a community working together, toward a brighter future, shining our collective light on the darkness that surrounds us. What we do today to nurture and heal one another with music and our values is bigger and more imortant than any one of us. The energy we send out into the ether together until it becomes something larger than the sum of its parts. Our vision of jazz is a constellation made of our sound, our ideas, our values, and our creative spirit. Not a single light, but a whole ecosystem burning at once. This radiance is not given to us. It is generated by us, a journey with a collective purpose.
