Toribio’s got something for your soul—and dat ass. With a lifelong musical background in percussion, education and practice in jazz, and a devotion to the sounds of his Dominican roots, Toribio came to house music through its funky side through the music of luminaries like Theo Parrish and Masters at Work. Toribio’s brand of house is highly musical, soulful and, ultimately, makes you want to come together and move. The charming DJ, producer, and multi-instrumental music maker affectionately known as “Papi” in the scene brings people from all 5 boroughs of New York together for his BDA parties where the motto is "Bring Dat Ass, and your feet will follow.”

A force of nightlife, Toribio regularly plays legendary events outside his own such as 718 Sessions, Summerstage, House of EFunk, La Luna Festival, and Soul in the Horn. He’s shared the decks with the likes of Caribou, Danny Krivit, DJ Seinfeld, Francois K, Osunlade, Todd Terry, Eli Escobar, Andrés, and Ash Lauryn to name a few. Toribio’s spirit shines bright behind the decks, but he also displays his musical prowess as leader of his rotating collective of musicians, Conclave, whose brilliant self-titled LP released on Love Injection Records to critical acclaim. The album was named by Resident Advisor as one of their best albums of 2021 and was hailed by the New Yorker as “vast” and full of “mellow, late-summer-afternoon gauziness.” Conclave is a reminder of the powerful omnipresence of Afro and Latino sounds and instruments; a captivating hour of lively jazz, spirited house, and moving, sometimes heart-thumping, soul layers effortlessly with Toribio’s easy, sweeping tenor, and courses to an electrically charged conclusion. Tracks from Conclave have been remixed by renown producers such as Louie Vega, Photay, and musclecars.

Toribio is also resident DJ at Brooklyn’s Black Flamingo, where his BDA parties continue to flourish. He regularly plays in various clubs across New York, including Nowadays, Elsewhere, Good Room, Knockdown Center, Bossa Nova Civic Club, and Le Bain and holds down a monthly show at the Lot Radio. He is frequently invited to play in cities like Mexico City and Miami and his reach continues to expand worldwide. Stay tuned for more releases from his own label, BDA Records.
