ABOUT
Newyork Knick is a DJ, event producer, and music curator who has spent two decades shaping nightlife across New York City. He sweeps fluidly through a spectrum of genres with a sensibility that’s sophisticated but street-wise, finding the points where different sounds meet. The result carries the same energy you feel living in New York. He’s a true tastemaker and scene-builder in the city’s underground.
Since starting behind the decks in 2005, Knick has held residencies across the city, most recently at Agency of Record. He has played from Philadelphia to San Francisco, Oakland, Lisbon, Panama City, and Reykjavik. On air, he hosted two shows on Drexel’s WKDU 91.7 FM, including JamCity Rock, one of the station’s longest-running programs. That run came during the years WKDU was named CMJ Station of the Year. He later spent two years on KPISS.FM, Brooklyn’s beloved DIY station.
In 2021 he released Metabolic, an experimental electronic EP performed live on a modest modular synthesizer rig. It takes the sensation of DJing and explores it on a more granular level, moving through industrial, rhythmic, and ambient territory. Its live, patch-by-patch approach treats electronics as an instrument to improvise with.
